It has been over a m...Countdown to Hurricane Season
It has been over a month now since Deepwater Horizon – an oil rig leased by BP, exploded killing eleven people, and began the world’s worst oil leakage disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.

Listen to BP in the news media, and they tell us repeatedly they have and are doing everything within their power, to both stop the gushing spewing oil, and to clean up the environmental disaster.

With the start of hurricane season less than 10 days away, the idea of an Ivan, Charley or Katrina plowing through the Deepwater Horizon oil slick is fueling a sense of urgency (and fear for the local residents) about the ocean-floor gusher.

"A hurricane is certainly going to spread out the oil and take it places it hasn't been yet," said Jeff Masters, chief meteorologist of Weather Underground.

http://just-me-in-t.blogspot.com/2010/05/non-co-operation-whilst-hurricane.html~~Just Me in T~~https://www.blogger.com/profile/12688756480412704251noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-53246864840716464.post-56609474845843899682010-05-16T06:57:32.499-07:002010-05-16T06:57:32.499-07:00"It also comes from the deepest oil well ever..."It also comes from the deepest oil well ever drilled ..."

Not according to that reference. The deepest ever was about 10km drilled last year by the same rig, but at a different location. The leaky hole is around 5.5km deep.Michaelnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-53246864840716464.post-87883167159047965642010-05-15T22:49:34.892-07:002010-05-15T22:49:34.892-07:00There must be NO CAP placed on BP's financial ...There must be NO CAP placed on BP's financial responsibility to the people imperiled by BP's gross negligence. The 'Senators-to-the-Rescue' with their inappropriately inadequate $10 billion cap, are clearly stepping in to rescue their corporate masters. People of New Orleans, be damned.

BP and government NON REGULATORS are responsible for this environmental catastrophe, which has no end in sight. BP must pay ALL damages, including the ongoing economic losses.

I suggest that the USELESS CORPORATE SHILLS aka CONGRESS, suspend their taxpayer funded salaries including all the LIFETIME benefits they enjoy at the expense of the American taxpayer, and instead, for starters, funnel that money to the 27,000 people in New Orleans, who have lost their source of income and whose future incomes have been destroyed by this irreparable ecological meltdown.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
