We seem to be emerging from a period of commodity money (gold standard) into a brave new world of money as a public utility, or a "social construct". There is a reaction against this "fiat money" and a radical rejection of money-as-a-social-construct, in favor of a return to the gold standard, and traditional religious absolutist values. The social construct money, however, is not controlled by the public, but by the cabal of creditors, who do not recognize the public utility nature of money.
