In response to an article I wrote, Carol says:
We need is someone to set the agenda, to Name a Day for the country's disenfranchised to show up in Washington. And I believe we're all disenfranchised at the moment.
Alright, unless somebody has a better idea ...
I'm declaring January 9th National Citizens Day.
National Citizens Day will be a day to:
(1) Honor and celebrate the power of the American Citizen
(2) The fact that the American Citizens own the country, the government, and all its employees, who serve at their will
and
(3) The fact that the American consumer - who drives 70% of the American economy - dictates which companies succeed and which fail with his or her purchasing decisions
Here are traditional and appropriate ways to celebrate National Citizens Day:
- Show up in Washington D.C. and show that you've got the power
- Move your money from one of the companies that are treating the American Citizen like we work for them and who are holding the economy hostage to a company which has not been bailed out by us, and is not taking our deposits and using them to speculate in casino style gambling
May you have a happy and empowering National Citizens Day. It's the American thing to do.
I have recently thought that a gathering at the Gettysburg National Battle Field on a fixed day would be a new way to give meaning for us as citizens to reestablish what that battlefield means for us. It is our property and holds great meaning - it would reconnect us with Lincoln and the great issues that battle represented. I am also for your idea. However, I think a convergence, especially from those who are retired and who can take the time, or those who can take vacation, to reinvent Gettysburg and speak to how we have been abandoned by our representatives would have great impact and would have to be newsworthy.
ReplyDeleteNational Citizens Day = CONTROLLED OPPOSITION
ReplyDeleteIf you're serious, plan - officially or unofficially - at least one sit-in.
ReplyDeleteOK, I'll Bite.
ReplyDeleteTell me where to meet, and I'll bring my photogenic dependents.
I am not, by nurture, inclined to protest - but I will make an exception.
Give me something I can believe in, brother.
One if by (car), two if by (train).
Jan the 9th is prolly going to be to phk'in cold! & I'd have to go to that sh*t hole DC, ain't happening! Here's what I think is a far better idea:
ReplyDeleteIf you hate as I do what the crooks at the Wallst Banks?Insurance companies & DC are doing now is an excellent time of year to Protest against them. It’s easy!! Black Friday, 11/27/09, you can help turn it into Black & Blue Friday. All you have to do is nothing, just stay out of the SlaveMarts/Targets & the rest of Corporate America’s Big Box Stores. You can still shop mom N pop operations. You could also stop & pull all or most of your money out of Wallst Banks. And if you’re out next Friday, turn your headlights on to show your support.
If you like this idea or have a few other simple ideas of protest people can do Black N Blue Friday by all means pass this around at your favorite web sites.
Maybe pass the idea on to Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh and any other radio or TV people you know liberal and conservative. 1.8 million people showed at DC on 9/12/09 and the media barely mentioned it in the USA, Russia Today and other overseas news agencies carried it. Gerald Celente for casted this all a few years back called them tax protests, be aware he also for casted civil war in the USA in 2010. I fear he could be right. See his shows on You tube or Russia Today.
