"Resistance to Tyranny is Obedience to God"

I've previously written that real men stand up to fascists:

The fascists' view of masculinity is that -- to be a real American man -- you have to rally around the "strong leader", you have to talk tough about the "war on terror", you have to get pleasure out of watching "our team" (the sole superpower) beat the stuffing out of a bunch of third-rate armies like Iraq and Afghanistan.

Are they right? Well, psychologists tell us that rallying around the authoritarian leader is actually a very infantile way to affirm one's masculinity.

Okay, listen up guys. Real men don't bluster like George W. Bush or Bill O'Reilly. Real men stand up to fascists.

Our forefathers stood up to the British king and fought for our freedom. Our forefathers stood up to tyrants and won their liberty and freedom.

THAT's what masculinity really means. That's where the pedal hits the metal and the rubber meets the road. It is the dictators running our country who are the danger, who are stealing the future from us, and our kids, and our grandkids.

Come on, buddy . . . stop posing. And start acting like a real man.

"If you're really a patriot, you will defend the constitution. If you're a coward, you'll defend the elite who want to subvert it. Real men stand up to fascism. Cowardly men become boot lickers."
- Chris D

"Most Americans aren't the sort of citizens the Founding Fathers expected; they are contented serfs. Far from being active critics of government, they assume that its might makes it right."
- Joseph Sobran

Of course, real women stand up to fascists, also.

People of faith stand up to fascists as well.

Thomas Jefferson said:

Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God.

Susan B. Anthony - one of the leading crusaders for women's rights - said at her sentencing hearing based on her conviction for illegally voting:

I shall earnestly and persistently continue to urge all women to the practical recognition of the old revolutionary maxim, that "Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God."

Nor is the idea strictly a Christian idea.

The Book of Maccabees - an ancient secular Jewish book purporting to document the events which Chanukah celebrates - is said to contain the same statement.

And see this.

  1. Unfortunately there is not a univeral, objective definition of fascist. One man's facist is another man's succesful government sponsored corporate industrialist. And who directs law enforcement and the armed forces, whom external wars have demonstrated will kill civilians with terrible weapons without mercy?

Much, much better still: it isn't even a religious idea.

    > --to be a real American man--

What is it in US culture that keeps upholding the deeply misguided belief that never in history has there been a greater country than the USA? Can't other people be brave? How in +this+ context can being an American be even remotely relevant to being a man?

Meanwhile, it strikes me as extremely funny that you +do+ apparently recognize that being a real woman is +not+ connected to being American.

Pfff, American men are truly a class of their own - eh, just exactly like any other country's people, that is.

  4. Is there any greater tyranny than the federal government?

These people are all liars and fools.

    I rest my case.

  5. I would like to encourage everyone to watch a 5 part series video titled “Money as Debt” on YouTube.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIIAvdJvCes&NR=1&feature=fvwp

After watching the simple and entertaining animation, ask yourself if you have a clear picture of the real “Fascist” that GW was alluding to, the enemy we face today, in the United States of America.

The rest of the world is rejecting “Money as Debt”.

Money as Dept is Fascist bankster tyranny emanating from the United States of America that can only be changed by real Americans who are willing to fight back and conquer the Fascist Federal Reserve Central Bank.

  6. As much as I like the sentiment. Jefferson was a deist. The bible takes the exact opposite position on Authority: Rom 13:1,3-4,6 (NIV) Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established...
1 Pet 2:13-14 (NIV) Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors,

There are endless others that directly refute this posts premise. Again Jefferson was a Deist and not a Christian or bible scholar.

  7. Ahhh...Romans 13!

Burning Bush, nowhere in the Bible do folks get it right and wrong at the same time as when they read Romans 13. Either this or the Rapture Doctrine is perhaps the most misunderstood thing in the entire Word of God.

The problem for so many with Romans 13 is their definition of "authority". Under the Rule of Law, the "authority" is the United States Constitution, which, you might recall, is the SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND!

Here is why you and perhaps even most Christians misunderstand Romans 13: first and foremost, the authority Paul speaks about over all is God. Now, since God puts certain men in power for His purpose, it is also incumbent on these men to OBEY the LAW (ie. follow the rule of Law) THEMSELVES besides enforcing the law on us "little people." Disregard this fact at your (and everyone elses) peril.

Such that, what you (and many Christians) are saying is we DISREGARD the Rule of Law for the Rule of Men. This is what the Israelites wanted when they asked God for a King (read Judges and First Samuel)...and lot what good it did them! Saul became as corrupt as anyone today in DC.

So I ask you, Burning Bush, do you want us all to submit to "authorities" which themselves refuse to submit to the Rule Of Law, and thus abrogate the Omniscient Rule of God?

In other words, if some govt. bureaucrat ordered you to jump off a 100 story building, would you do it just because this bureaucrat has "authority" over you?

    I thought so!

And calling Jefferson a "deist" (which he was, of course) is like flattery...it'll get you nowhere with those of us who can properly discern Romans 13!
