Now that a Democrat has been elected president, the Democrats in Congress have no excuse. They can no longer pretend that they have to "hold back" to win the election.
They have no excuse to delay war crimes charges against Bush, Cheney and company for Iraq.
They have no excuse to delay war crimes charges for torture.
They have no excuse to delay criminal charges for spying on Americans.
They have no excuse to delay criminal charges for 9/11.
Now is not the time for Democratic machine politics. Now is the time to implement true American values - cherished across the political aisle - of liberty and justice.
There can be no liberty in America unless the tyrants who have tried to imprison us and enslave us are prosecuted.
There can be no justice in America unless the high and mighty are held accountable for their actions.
Obama is a former Constitutional law professor. He knows the value of the Constitution and the rule of law. He promised during his campaign to curb the unconstitutional practices of the executive branch.
But that is not enough. Because if the tyrants in both parties who have trampled on the vision of the founding fathers are not held accountable, then future tyrants will learn that they can get away with it, also.
Now that Obama has won, there is no excuse. Those who have trampled on our country and our people must be held to account for the whole world and future generations to see.
Well Said Thank you.
ReplyDeletePelosi will never go for it as she is as culpable as Bush. Something about her just isn't right!
Great post Mr President !
ReplyDeleteWe will really see the true state of the nation when Obama takes office. I think things will improve somewhat but I remain very apprehensive.
Obama's first move after winning the Democratic party nomination was to prostrate himself and grovel before AIPAC. His handler is Zbigniew Brzezinski. Don't hold your breath for any change that will benefit the American people.
ReplyDeleteWell, congratulations, first, President-elect Obama. Now, let's start looking at some of the problems that'll be likely still facing him, come January:
ReplyDelete1) 10 trillion in red ink, racked up by the miledusterplexnizers, and their cohorts and deep-pockets racketeering cronies.
2) Iraf. Our troops are still there. Sportertoops is not a gooderservice treatment of the situation. Public corruption, and billions of dollars worth of oil revenue have made that corner of the world corrupt, crooked, and filthy-rotten, read back about UN oil-for-food, Elf oil co. and so forth, the need is imperative to continue the path to petroleum independence by the quickest means possible.
3)Afghanistan. Where in the world is Osama Bin Laden? Even with President Barack Hussein Obama, for my money, Osama's still on the Bad People list. Will someone turn him in/stumble over his grave/etc. in 2009? And, if they don't find him, how long will they sportertoops in Afghanistan? War is a racket.
4) Domestic economic issues. Lots of things have contributed to a very ugly national economic picture. Not everyone gets the Porsche, sure, but everyone should get a fair shot at dinner. Talking a little more about everyone: World population is on its' way to 7 billion people. What will Obama's concepts be on immigration? Will we tax ourselves into oblivion, basically, to pay for somebody's poorly grounded idealistic gibberish, or is it kind of time to circle the wagons a little, and focus on trying to fix things in the United States for current U.S. citizens, before letting half the planet try to move in and everyone trying to balance themselves on an economy that is struggling to get along as it is? Only time will tell, there.
I hope Obama leads a religious summit and has a come-to-Jesus(insert name of preferred alternate Deity here________) meeting with some of these religious leaders about the philosophy they've been espousing and broadcasting. 'Go forth, and multiply' is hardly applicable, given current circumstances. And, they can stow the crowd-stoking, and fist-and-rifle shaking while they're at it. Time for a new age of Reason, here, and vast improvements in how our borders are handled. Will Obama start asking how many MORE Congresscritters have second through fifteenth 'summer homes' around the globe, here?
Public corruption, roughly relates to the above: 'Government' is a great place to get a 6-figure gummitjawb that you can't be fired from. Ergo, you become a semi-perpetual US taxpayer burden. Will Obama's prescription here be more gummitployeez and more red-ink spending, or another quick come-to-Jesus on run-amok public spending?
In other words, under Obama, will there be less government people trying to basically pick your pocket so they personally can drive Really Nice Cars etc? It's easy to lay blame at the feet of corporations, but there's probably going to be less of those in the United States in the future, as the remaining ones go bust or are taxed/'environmentalized' out of existence. I think a goodly chunk of our domestic manufacturing has already made a 'run for the border', will more entities and industries follow or go bust? What happens when Detroit shuts down? GM and Chrysler and Ford are on their way down...and there's been evidence of public corruption in Detroit. All about da benjamins, or is it time for new fiscal responsibility standards basically spanning our entire government? I think there'll probably always be corruption problems, but in the 21st century, with good people in the White House, maybe we'll see quite a bit less of it...nothing like turning Congress and investigation teams loose on a state in the Union to get to the bottom of any 'money questions', there. 61 BILLION, with a 'b', BILLION dollars worth of Mediscare fraud in 2007. How much money does 'the government' blow through in an hour's time? Maybe it should be substantially less, eh? Like, 40% less, just as a suggestion, there. Less with the government programs, and more with people doing for themselves and less opportunities for 'gaming' our tax system. Oh, yeah, I fully recommend that Barack visit himself upon the Infernal Revenue Service, and clean house, there. Our tax code is crooked and rotten, and so mired in favoritism and apparently, no small amount of incompetence or at least intellectual dishonesty, that people are then motivated to 'offshore' and do all that other garbage. Why not concepts like a 10% flat tax? Earn ten bucks, pay a dollar, no exceptions. And, make it so that your first 10k earned is YOURS. That way, you can be your own 'welfare' program, instead of money changing hands 14 times before you get your can of Campbell's, there.
Anyway, in summary, again congratulations, President-elect Obama! Way to go!
The democrats will not touch any single one of those issues... Even with this kind of majority they will be spineless and misguided as ever.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be bad for the Constitution. Probably even worse than the neocons.
Well it should go a longer way. The only thing that is in the way is congress. If the democrats get more than a near 50/50 split in the congress (what they have now, which the republicans can easily disrupt any legislation), if they can get the magical 60 then there would be no excuse. They would have complete control. Just because Obama is president does not mean their is no excuse.
ReplyDeleteBert- Great post; I'm with ya almost 100%. The only off-note was the bash on environmental responsibility.
ReplyDeleteThis Earth and Mother Nature have been kinder and more generous to me than any government or persons I have known in this life. I appreciate that and honor it, and do my best to reciprocate.
The corporations leaving has nothing to do with environmental legislation, unless they are leaving because they can go to a place where a simple bribe will allow them to poison the earth, air, and water for free, passing the cost onto society. If they can't make a buck without crapping in someone's front yard they don't deserve to be in business.
Cleaning up your own mess is called taking personal responsibility, and interestingly avoiding such responsibility was the reason corporations were invented.
Nothing will Change.
ReplyDeleteNothing will change.
Chocolate or Vanilla.
The System remains.
Barak Obama's grandmother is from what Bloodline?
Oh, wait. You don't know.
But i do....
